Keep Your Laws Off My Body

Isn't that the refrain we heard and hear from the abortion rights advocates? Keep your laws off of my body?

Well, I'm going to adopt it in my stand against government run health care. Keep your laws off of my body!!!

Hubby and I attended our birthing class on Sunday...and while it totally freaked me out and grossed me out it did make me appreciate even more the health care system as it stands.

Yes, I have private insurance through my work. And God bless it.

I will have a private room in which to give birth and to recover. My baby will stay with me in the room (no nurseries). I get to decide how I want labor to go ... in terms of who is allowed in the room with me, if I take drugs or get an epi, etc. It is all about making the labor as easy as possible for me.

The delivery rooms all having soaking tubs, TVs, birthing balls (scary!), and $65,000 beds that move in all sorts of weird and funky ways to accommodate comfort and ease for delivery. Don't tell me the government would ever provide them.

I disagree with the premise of several of the questions posed in this particular dNeero survey...

I've never had to wait for insurance approval before getting treatment. That is the kind of thing that socialized medicine requires!

I don't agree that government can make the system more efficient...unless they pass laws that allow insurance to become transferable - not necessarily attached to a job or a particular state.

I do agree that there are a shortage of nurses. But the market can correct this through financial incentives for teachers and nurses.

And the hospice care question is just odd. The current bill in Congress has funding for end of life counseling...basically, a requirement that old folks have to meet with their doctor every 5 years (or thereabouts) to talk about their "options"...in other words...if it gets too expensive to take care of you we'd like to pull the plug.

I don't anticipate government ever wanting to approve hospice care for people. It costs money and if the patient is just going to die anyway, what's the point right?

I want the government as far away from my healthcare decisions as possible. These are the people who can't even be bothered to read the bills they are voting for! Nor are they medical experts. My health care should be between me and my doctor...not some burocrat on a medical board somewhere in DC.
If you prize choosing your own cardiologist or urologist under your company's Preferred Provider Organization plan (PPO), if your employer rewards your non-smoking, healthy lifestyle with reduced premiums, if you love the bargain Health Savings Account (HSA) that insures you just for the essentials, or if you simply take comfort in the freedom to spend your own money for a policy that covers the newest drugs and diagnostic tests -- you may be shocked to learn that you could lose all of those good things under the rules proposed in the two bills that herald a health-care revolution.

... the Obama platform would mandate extremely full, expensive, and highly subsidized coverage -- including a lot of benefits people would never pay for with their own money -- but deliver it through a highly restrictive, HMO-style plan that will determine what care and tests you can and can't have.
What happened to my right to choose being all constitutionally protected and stuff? Where are the feminists now? Filthy hypocrites.

What is 4D?

So I've got another ultra sound today...it's called a 4D ultrasound. I have no idea what 4D is. I know what 3D is. I think the extra D is 'sound'...but not the baby's sound. Apparently they record the session so people can listen online to what the mom and dad say. I'm NOT sharing that link with anyone.

And I have my glucose test to see if I have gestational diabetes today. I can hardly wait. /sarc

Saw the mother in law yesterday and she seemed to be doing a bit better. She had been really really tired on Saturday and didn't want visitors. But yesterday was Father's day and I wanted her to see hubby open the gift I got him. It's SO adorable...a handmade baby onesie that has the Washington State Patrol logo and the words "Future Trooper" embroidered on it. Plus the person who made it also gave us a matching burp cloth. He was pretty tickled ... and surprised.

When the babe is born I want to get a photo of hubby in uniform with baby in his onesie. =)

Oh, and here's a survey...one about music. I'm going to have the LL Cool J song in my head all day. And I agree about the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. LOVE it!

Surveys - Moving and Athletes

Hubby and I thought we'd only be in our current house for a max of 5 years. Well, it's been almost 7. And I don't see us going anywhere anytime soon. I like where we live. It's conveniently not too far away from shopping and 'town' but it's out far enough that I don't feel like I live in the city. I guess it could be called the "burbs" but it feels more rural than that to me. I pass several farms with horses and one with a bunch of cows on my way home.

We may be forced to move in the next couple of years if my company moves their headquarters. I am SO hoping they stay put though.

I think if we do move in the next few years we'll almost have to hire movers. Which will suck.

P.S. This is a charitable survey...I picked PetSmart charities for my survey.

As for the next survey...I do not think that endurance training athletes can truly have a balanced lifestyle. How can they possible have ice cream if they're training all the time? :)

Survey - What's With the Hair?

My hair is way too long...I'm just too cheap to go get it cut.

I don't have much in the way of ideas for blogging right now. :) So the survey is it for the time being.

Who Cares About Hair?

I've never been great at doing my hair...even when I was a young girl. I can't braid it myself. I can barely style it. And I have an annoying cowlick that makes even a simple pony tail a pain.

So I really don't care if I go gray...and I actually started getting gray hair when I was 20 or so. I haven't dyed my hair since the one and only time I tried - I picked the exact same color that my hair already was! Oops.

I have gotten highlights before but they're expensive and kind of a hassle to maintain.

Gray hair will come for me eventually and I'm just not that worried.

Happy Memorial Day

I never have celebrated most of the holidays that result in a 3 day weekend. I love that we honor our fallen, and in November our Veterans. But for me, it's just a relief to have an extra day off. Tomorrow hubby and I will go help my mom with some gardening stuff and then we'll celebrate at the new Terminator movie. :)

It's a Duty

I wish I would be called for Jury Duty. I've always wanted to do it and have only been called once. Since I can't lie, I always admit who my hubby is. And I'm pretty sure that gets me kicked out. :(

My company pays for jury duty days at full pay. Which is great. I know not all places do that.

Do you Twitter?

I twitter. Sometimes. Sporadically. I've started following some pretty funny folks so it can definitely be entertaining. My tweets are pretty boring, but you're still welcome to follow me @castocreations.

I do like Twitter though...as much of a waste of time as it is. :)

Do You Tatoo?

I'm not a tatoo fan. My sweet little cousin, a gorgeous girl who could easily have been a model, got a huge one all up and down one of her sides. I hate it. I was so pissed when I found out that I cried and couldn't even talk to her.

I told her it looked like a hussy tatoo, and I think it does. Though she is decidedly NOT a hussy and that's what is most upsetting.

I guess I'm a hypocrite though because there are a few tatoos that I think are hot - and they're all on guys.

When I was younger, under 18, I toyed with the idea of a tatoo, but I am relieved that I never got one. I definitely would have regretted it now. I would have picked something stupid and meaningless like a flower. Or even worse, a boyfriend's name!

Do you have a tatoo? Do you want one? Do your kids have one or want one? I hope I can convince my kid not to get one ... unless its a boy and he joins the military. *grin*

Stupid Twitter Survey

Who the hell cares what celebrities twitter?

And I still think it is WRONG to consider Bambi a celebrity.

Survey - Celebrity Tweeters

Why the hell is the president considered a celebri-tard? Did anyone ever consider Bush a celebrity? Or is it only Dems who can be celebrity Presidents? So lame.

I could care less who so called celebrities tweet.

Survey Time - Relations with Cuba

I'm kind of torn on this topic. I do not think we should normalize relations or make it legal to travel to Cuba...the only thing the tourists see is what the government wants them to see. The workers never see the money spent there. There is no freedom to speak or even live freely.

On the other hand, would having westerners travel more to Cuba give them more diversity in opinion and perhaps more liberal ideas to seep in? I don't know. Has it worked in China? A bit. But not a ton.

I am sure if I went I'd get arrested for making sarcastic comment. Not that I'd ever go...the idea of supporting such a regime with my dollars makes me ill.

What do you think?

Do you go to Music Concerts?

The last concert I can remember attending was for Tim McGraw. My (now) husband (then boyfriend) suffered through it but he hated it ... and he hated the way I acted. Which was pretty tame. I just screamed a few times in celebration and of course sang along. :)

Shoe Survey

I LOVE shoes and I really wish I could buy more of them. :)

A Music Survey

So apparently they are going to tell us whether we have a job starting April 15. I think it's appropriate, being tax day and all that.

Anyway...in an effort to supplement my income here is another survey. :)

EDITED - They picked my question as a required one. Woot!

A Survey for Charity

Proceeds for this survey go to Charity.

I never did truly think that lung cancer was ONLY caused by smoking. It's sad that we only hear about cases that are and not those who get lung cancer who don't even smoke.

A Survey for Charity

I picked the Make a Wish Foundation ... all proceeds from my survey will go to them. Every penny helps right?

And a non-charity survey...what's with all the music surveys? I'm just not that into music. Of course, if they had a survey about Harry Potter I'd be all over it!

Survey on Sunday

It's Sunday. So a survey. :)

Another Music Survey

dNeero seems to be focused on Rap and Pop music...neither of which I really listen to.

More Surveys

I've gotta do what I can to increase our funds so here are some more surveys. :) Enjoy and click on them if you like.

Have a Happy night and here's the start of a new week. =)
